Who are we?

Michelle Kropp: owner & poultry enthusiast

Hello!

My name is Michelle, and I have raised poultry since I was a little girl. I started in 4H when I was a doodlebug, and began to raise pet chickens as soon as I could.

My husband and I both grew up in NW Montana, and we started Cowboy Coop in 2018 as a way to provide rare breed chickens, and high quality breeder stock poultry to the Flathead Valley.

Previously, the only places we could purchase poultry locally was from feed stores, or to have chicks shipped in from large scale hatcheries. Unfortunately I often found they lacked in quality: sometimes receiving the incorrect breeds, or raising a chicken 6-9 months only to discover it had the wrong comb type, or had very poor body type for its breed. Ordering from these large scale businesses rarely yielded a bird that met its true standards of perfection.  I wanted to be able to provide potential show quality birds, that are healthy, hearty, able to stand up to Montana weather, and overall FUN to the owner and hobby breeder.
